My Work

Want to know more about what it’s really like to work with me? Here’s a handful of case studies so you can get a flavour of some of my recent projects.

Evolving Seep’s Brand Proposition & Messaging

“Rebecca has been instrumental in helping us evolve our brand strategy. She is thoughtful, easy to work with and came with the perfect blend of hands-on brand management and strategic advisory support. Plus, she understands challenger brand demands, budgets and pace. I highly recommend her.”

— Laura Harnett, Founder, Seep

The Challenge

Seep, a female-founded, microplastic-free cleaning essentials BCorp (think sponge scourers, cloths, bin bags etc), wanted to update its brand proposition to really meet the needs of its customers and reflect changing concerns about cleaning.

The Work

I gathered and reviewed insights to build a clear picture of what Seep stood for and what mattered most to their customers. It became clear that this was a refresh project rather than a complete brand repositioning, but some important updates were needed to ensure Seep stayed relevant and maintained stand-out (especially in retailers).

The biggest shift was a new brand mission, ‘to wipe away microplastics from cleaning essentials in 10 million homes’, a change from their previous focus on reducing landfill waste. This decision was rooted in customer insight as well as the team’s deep knowledge of cleaning, sustainability and wellness trends. The next step was to really bring their brand essence ‘Feel Good Cleaning’ to life through messaging and tone of voice as well as real, relatable ‘feel good’ cleaning moments the team could build content around.

The Outcome

  • A brand new mission statement.

  • A refreshed brand proposition with compelling new messaging and more emotive tone of voice.

  • Bold new packaging with real on-shelf standout.

  • I gave the Seep team the framework to bring the new brand to life with a new look and feel (bold colours, new fonts, fresh imagery) designed to make you feel good about cleaning. You can read all about it here.

  • Seep landed a listing in Waitrose.

Defining Shenton Group’s Marketing Foundations

Shenton Group Generators

“Working with Rebecca has been fantastic. She approaches marketing in a logical and pragmatic way whilst challenging the status quo. Her initial deep dive into the brand and subsequent findings and recommendations are invaluable and leave you with a clear plan of action.”

— Curtis Meek, CEO, Shenton Group

The Challenge

Shenton Group, the UK’s leading technical experts in Standby Power, Uninterruptible Power Supplies and Combined Heat and Power Systems, wanted to build a Brand and Marketing strategy that would focus the efforts of its growing in-house Marketing team and deliver more for the business.

The Work

I initially worked with Shenton Group on a project to develop its Brand Positioning before creating a Marketing Strategy for the year ahead. Through workshop sessions, we gained a deep understanding of the business and what makes it different. From there I defined its brand proposition and distinctive, ownable key messages.

With those fundamentals in place, I developed a Marketing Strategy with clear objectives, overarching strategies and actionable tactics. By using the Marketing funnel as the core framework, the team is now set up to deliver the right message in the right channel to the right audiences.

Today, I provide ongoing Marketing leadership within the business and mentor the in-house Brand Manager. Acting as sounding board, mentor and day-to-day support, we’ve ensured that the upfront work lands and makes an impact.

The Outcome

  • Clear Brand Positioning and Comms Pillars that can be applied across all channels.

  • An actionable Marketing Strategy with clear objectives and measures.

  • A confident in-house Marketing team with clear direction and focus.
